Management of the system for prevention and elimination of emergency situations is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Standard "Prevention and elimination of emergency situations in JSC" NC "KTZ" and its subsidiaries".

Employees who have discovered a violation of environmental requirements, norms, rules and instructions or a danger threatening human life and health, as well as the possibility of environmental pollution, are obliged to immediately take all measures within their power to eliminate or localize the situation that has arisen and inform the dispatcher or heads of structural divisions and subsidiaries in accordance with the standard "Incident management with determination of their root causes in JSC" NC "KTZ" "and its subsidiaries".

Structural divisions and subsidiaries inform the authorized body in the field of environmental protection about the accidents with the release and discharge of pollutants into the environment within two hours from the moment they are discovered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Code. Also, this information is provided to the supervising unit.

Liquidation of natural and man-made emergencies and their consequences is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Civil Protection". Elimination of the consequences of emergencies is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Standard for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations in NC KTZ JSC and its subsidiaries, approved by a separate local act of the Company.

In 2022, while a freight train was traveling on the railway bridge on the Oskemen-Kumystau section, an accident occurred with the derailment of 18 wagons, of which 6 wagons loaded with copper-zinc ore and dump slag fell into the Irtysh River.

In order to eliminate environmental damage, a Remediation Program was developed to eliminate environmental damage caused to the Irtysh River, within the framework of which work was carried out to lift derailed wagons and remove them from the haul; cleaning of spare parts of railway cars and scrap metal from the territory and further disposal; removal and disposal of spilled cargo from the coastline; cleaning and cleaning the territory from the remnants of spilled cargo and its disposal;
