KTZ NC JSC’s investment activities are focused on implementing a range of initiatives aimed at ensuring the sustainable operation of railway transport, as well as improving the quality and safety of transportation services.

In 2024, KZT 1,085 billion was invested in the development of railway infrastructure and the renewal of rolling stock. Key investment initiatives implemented during the reporting period included:

• continued construction of second tracks along the Dostyk-Moiynty section;
• completion of the Port of Kuryk construction project;
• continued construction of the bypass railway line around the Almaty station hub and the Darbaza-State Border with Uzbekistan railway line;
• launch of the construction of second tracks between the Dostyk and Alashankou border stations on both 1,520 mm and 1,435 mm gauge tracks;
• modernisation and repair of the upper track structure over a total length of 570 km;
• purchase of 171 locomotives and capital repair of 29 locomotives;
• purchase of 2,255 freight cars and capital repair of 2,597 freight cars;
• purchase of 118 passenger cars and capital repair of 15 passenger cars; 
• implementation of projects aimed at upgrading and rehabilitating railway infrastructure, improving transport logistics, and enhancing traffic safety levels.
