As part of a large-scale project to expand the Dostyk - Moiynty railway line, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy opened traffic on a new second track between the Beskol and Dostyk stations. This is the second double-track section on this highway that is ready for operation. In January of this year, traffic on the second track was launched from Moiynty to Balkhash (127 km).
During the construction from Beskol to Dostyk, 155 km of track and sleeper grid and 106 sets of turnouts were laid, 26 bridges were built and 29 new pipes were installed. The Beskol, Zhalanashkol, Akshi, Koktuma stations, the Zhaipak, 16 and 19 sidings have been modernized. Signaling, centralization and blocking, communication and power supply devices have been connected. A domestically produced microprocessor system has been successfully implemented, providing an increased level of traffic safety.
KTZ plans to fully open traffic on the second tracks from Dostyk to Moiynty, 836 km long, in June of this year. This will increase the capacity of one of the busiest highways of the railway network fivefold.
