With the onset of the spring season, track section workers across the country are actively carrying out preventive and organizational-technical measures to prepare railway tracks and artificial structures for the passage of ice drift and flood waters, ensuring the safe movement of trains.
Dams and reservoirs located above the railway track are under special control. Together with local executive bodies, employees of the main network regularly inspect these facilities. In the southern, western and eastern regions, anti-washout trains have been fully formed, all artificial structures have been cleaned.
In the Pavlodar region, three anti-washout trains have been formed, consisting of covered cars with tools and special clothing, platforms with rail packages, rubble stone and sleepers. 35 potentially dangerous places are under control, drilling and blasting operations are planned on the Selety River.
In the Semey branch of the main network, five anti-washout trains have been formed, deployed at the stations of Oskemen-1, Kumistau, Semey, Zhana-Semey, Ayagoz. They include covered cars with tools, platforms with rubble stone, sleepers and rail packages. Work is underway to clear snow from 442 bridges, 390 culverts, 236 km of ditches and 111 km of mountain canals. Eight reservoirs have been inspected, and the locks of the hydroelectric power plants have been checked.
In the Semey region, drilling and blasting operations have been carried out to crush ice on the Uba River and release snow avalanches on the NUK-Altai section. Drilling and blasting operations were also carried out to crush ice on the Yesil River at 29 km of the Yesil-Priishimskaya section.
Around-the-clock duty of track, signaling, communications and power supply department employees has been organized throughout the country. Dispatching control has been established, and constant information exchange is being conducted with the Department of Emergency Situations on predicted water levels in rivers and reservoirs.
At the request of the Ministry of Defense, a train with a pontoon bridge and accompanying equipment was sent from Kapchagay station to Shubar-Kuduk station. Eight platforms are involved in its transportation.
The flood situation on the railway remains stable. All potentially dangerous sections are covered by regular detours and additional detours to control the passage of melt water through artificial structures and ensure the safety of the railway infrastructure.
