Press Tour to Dostyk-Moiynty: Journalists See the Real Impact of One of the Country's Largest Infrastructure Projects
10-10-2025
A group of Kazakhstani journalists took part in a press tour of the strategically important Dostyk-Moiynty railway section, implemented at the behest of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Participants witnessed the scale of the completed project firsthand, assessed the modern infrastructure, and heard expert opinions on the impressive initial results.
The project was completed two years ahead of schedule thanks to the coordinated work of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, contractors, and partners. The new secondary tracks have been commissioned and are supporting increased freight traffic along a key Eurasian route—the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (TITR).
С момента начала движения с использованием вторых путей грузооборот увеличен на более 40% к уровню 2022 года, то есть до начала строительства вторых путей.
During the press tour, journalists witnessed firsthand how infrastructure modernization and the launch of second tracks have significantly increased the section's capacity, optimized logistics chains, and created conditions for the sustainable development of the region and the country as a whole. Speakers noted that the project's impact is already being felt in the economy: freight delivery has been accelerated, export opportunities have expanded, and the transport industry's investment attractiveness has been enhanced. Experts explained to journalists that train service was launched in stages this year, on the following sections:
Moiynty – Balkhash-1 — since January 29,
Beskol – section 19 — since March 13,
Aktogay – Vostochny – Beskol — since June 19,
Balkhash-2 – Sayak — since July 4,
Sayak – Aktogay — since September 30.
Since the launch of service using the second tracks, freight turnover has increased by more than 40% compared to 2022 levels, before construction of the second tracks began.
The track is currently being stabilized in accordance with standard technology, which should be achieved after handling 100,000 tons of freight.
The journalists, in turn, emphasized the importance of the press tour for them, as the Dostyk-Moiynty project not only develops the transport network but also significantly contributes to strengthening Kazakhstan's position as a key transit hub between East and West. Furthermore, at Dostyk station, journalists were shown the inside of a modern interlocking station (EI)—an important strategic facility that has become the new intelligent control center for all traffic on the route. This is not just a station, but a high-tech system that ensures the coordination of train and shunting operations around the clock.
The third floor of the station houses a duty station equipped with modern microprocessor equipment. Key workstations are located here: the shunting dispatcher, the station duty officer, the station interlocking station operators, and the dispatchers.
The well-coordinated work of this team, in close coordination with their colleagues from China Railways, enables the efficient planning and operation of trains, monitoring their arrival and departure, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation at one of the country's most important transport hubs. This complex work at Dostyk Station is carried out shoulder to shoulder by both experienced railway industry veterans and ambitious young people—a true generational shift united by a common goal. Their daily work plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of trains, increasing freight traffic, and strengthening the country's transit potential. These are the people who underpin Kazakhstan's economy and logistics, and the contribution of each of them is invaluable for the sustainable development of the transport system and the entire country.
