KTZ schedulers celebrate anniversary

Specialists of the Department of development of schedules and plans of formation of trains of the branch of JSC "NC "KTZ" - "Integrated planning directorate" celebrate a double anniversary: 20 years since the foundation of the structure and 10 years since the creation of the department itself (formerly - the department of modeling of the transportation process).

The department employs 40 highly qualified specialists with experience in the railway from 5 to 40 years. In 2015, the structure was expanded to implement integrated planning of the transportation process, which allowed to improve the work technology. In particular, the department switched from annual transportation planning to more dynamic monthly and ten-day calculations. This innovation allowed to promptly respond to changes in the transport system and increase the efficiency of planning.

- The transfer of the department to the capital significantly improved the organization of work and allowed to create a more efficient structure. This also contributed to the improvement of interaction and the improvement of the quality of work, - notes the former director of the department, advisor to the chairman of the board of KTZ, honorary railway worker Gulnara Talaspayeva.

The main task of the department is to create an annual standard train schedule, which serves as the basis for forming the budget and organizing the work of rail transport. This schedule is not static: it is constantly adjusted depending on changes in the needs of passenger transportation, the provision of technological "windows" for repair and construction work on the main line and other factors.

Every day, the department develops a variable schedule that helps train dispatchers in their work. This schedule takes into account all the nuances: daily "windows" for repair work, the movement of passenger and freight trains, as well as possible options for passing a train on a section where track repairs are being carried out.
An equally important area of the department's work is the train formation plan. This process includes determining the direction of the car flow and planning routes for loaded cars. The department accurately calculates which routes each car should follow, which interstate junction it should cross and how the train will be formed. It is important that different categories of trains are taken into account - section and container, which allows for more efficient organization of transportation.

One of the central aspects of the department's work is traction calculations, which serve as the basis for developing a train schedule. These calculations take into account such parameters as the track profile, characteristics of locomotives and cars. This data helps graphists draw up accurate and competently constructed schedules, taking into account all technical features.

Chief Manager, Honorary Railwayman Saule Kaltaeva emphasizes that special training is required to work in the department, and you need to start with the very basics - work at the station and as a train dispatcher. It is important to have a good understanding of the regulatory data that underlie the development of schedules. The department's specialists have unique knowledge and skills that are necessary for accurate and high-quality work.

"Forecasting is the art of a graphist," notes Saule Kaltaeva. There is no room for error in this matter, because the accuracy of the schedule determines not only the efficiency of the railway, but also the safety of passengers and cargo. In order to draw up a high-quality schedule, it is necessary to take into account all infrastructure capabilities and accurately predict the future.
