KTZ increased transit and implements large-scale infrastructure projects

Chairman of the Management Board of NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC Talgat Aldybergenov reported on the company's performance for the first 7 months of 2025 at a Government meeting.
Operational cargo turnover amounted to 162 billion tkm, 177 million tons of cargo were transported (+3.9%). Transit transportation increased by 10%, to 17 million tons, including 796 thousand TEU containers.
The company is implementing infrastructure projects: construction of the Moiynty - Kyzylzhar (360 km), Bakhty - Ayagoz (272 km) lines. It is planned to gradually commission the Dostyk - Moiynty (836 km) and Almaty bypass (73 km) sections by the end of 2025. The construction of the Darbaza-Maktaaral line (253 km) is expected to be completed in 2026.
In 2025, 840 km of tracks were repaired, the rolling stock is being updated, and digital solutions are being implemented (Tez Customs, Trip Optimizer, KinetiX, digital railway model). The "Single Digital Window" ensures transparency of business processes. The Trip Optimizer system reduces fuel consumption by 5%. Automatic issuance of transit declarations through Tez Customs has reduced the processing time by 16 times. It is planned to implement smart diagnostics based on artificial intelligence. IT solutions for terminal management are being implemented jointly with Huawei. Since August, an audit of digital projects has been conducted to form a target IT architecture.
Improvements have also been achieved in the passenger segment. 74% of the carriage fleet is under 20 years old. The share of online ticket sales was 83%. Train delays decreased by 37%. The average occupancy rate of trains is 73%;
6 tourist routes have been launched, including the international train Xi'an - Almaty. As part of the program of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 125 railway stations are being modernized.
