During the 2024-2025 heating season (from May to April), 71.7 million tons of coal were delivered by rail across Kazakhstan. Of these, 64.7 million tons were for combined heat and power plants (CHP), and over 7 million tons were for the public utility sector. According to local executive bodies, there was no shortage of coal for public utility needs during the heating season.
KTZ ensured uninterrupted coal logistics and fulfilled 100% of shippers' requests. An operational headquarters worked around the clock to coordinate the transportation of solid fuel. Daily meetings were held with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of akimats.
KTZ continues to implement measures to ensure stable coal supplies and calls on operators and shippers to submit applications for transportation in advance for the upcoming heating season of 2025-2026.
