Development of railway engineering discussed at the Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan

As part of the XII Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan, a sectional meeting on the topic of "Development of railway engineering" was held at the EXPO International Exhibition Center. The event brought together representatives of government agencies, leading enterprises of the wagon-building and locomotive-building complex, as well as industry experts. The key topics of the meeting were the prospects for industrial and innovative development of the sector, expansion of the product range, localization of production and the introduction of advanced technologies.
Toreadil Abdrakhmanov, Head of the Department of Electrical and Heavy Engineering of the Industry Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, made a report on the current state of railway engineering. He emphasized the importance of increasing the share of domestic products and expanding the export potential of the industry. The meeting featured reports from major industry participants:
JSC Electrovoz Kurastyru Zauyty — on technology transfer and localization development;
Railways Systems KZ LLP — on import substitution prospects;
Wabtec Corporation LLP — on the development of locomotives running on alternative fuels;
Atyrau Wagon Kurastyru Zauyty LPP — on vertical integration and innovation implementation;
Kazakhstan Wagon Building Company LLP and SMP Group LLP — on the current state of the wagon fleet and prospects for the development of wagon building in Kazakhstan;
Format Mach Company LPP — on the problems of concluding long-term contracts;
OST-INVEST-CONSULT — on modern solutions in the field of robotic welding and assembly.
Following the discussion, the participants developed a number of recommendations for industry enterprises. Among them are expansion of the range and export potential of products, strengthening of localization processes and implementation of innovations, development of cooperation between manufacturers and engineering companies, implementation of robotic and automated technologies and development of products with a low carbon footprint.
KTZ, in turn, plans to develop and update technical requirements for new equipment, including the use of alternative energy sources.
