Development of Kazakh-Chinese logistics projects discussed

A working meeting of the management of NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC with a delegation from China led by Yao Hongjuan, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office the Communist Party of China Shaanxi Provincial Committee, was held in Astana.

The parties discussed the development of joint international infrastructure projects, paying particular attention to promising transit routes and points of origin and absorption of growing cargo flows.

Particular emphasis was placed on the synergy of trade and logistics flows between Xi'an and Almaty. The parties reviewed the concepts of upcoming events as part of the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Kazakhstan. Particular attention was paid to the launch of a logistics terminal in Almaty, which will become the largest import hub in Kazakhstan.

Reference: The project provides for the construction of a terminal with an area of 9.8 hectares with a design capacity of about 57 thousand TEU per year with in-demand container platforms and modern warehouses. The terminal will optimize processes, integrate international transport routes and create a single transport base for the largest logistics hubs in Kazakhstan and China, which will have a multiplier effect and open up new opportunities for intensifying trade and economic ties between Kazakhstan and China.
