As part of the preparation of the railway for the upcoming harvest, KTZ held a number of meetings and conferences with government agencies and participants in the transportation process.
A number of measures for the operation of the railway were formed on July 11 of this year within the framework of the Round Table with the participation of representatives of authorized government agencies, industry associations and shippers.
To organize the transportation of grain of the new harvest, KTZ is intensifying the work of grain headquarters in the regions and at the central level. Also, schedule threads will be developed for the formation of direct groupage trains Kostanay-Galaba, Kokshetau-Galaba, Kostanay-Tashkent hub.
Despite the fact that the traditional markets for Kazakhstani grain crops are the countries of Central Asia, Afghanistan and Iran, in recent years there has been a growing demand from Chinese consignees for Kazakhstani grain and milled products.
In the 2023-2024 season, grain exports to China increased by +21% compared to the previous season, and milled products by 24%. In the first half of the year, KTZ has already shipped 757 thousand tons of grain.
On July 16, at a government meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, Managing Director of NC KTZ JSC Bauyrzhan Urynbassarov noted that Kazakhstan Railways is ready to ship more than 2 million tons of grain for export to China this year with an even distribution of trains among senders. Within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the railways of Kazakhstan and China, an agreement was reached on the organization of route shipments on the principle of "one sender - one recipient" to ensure unloading at the bonded area of the Alashankou station. In the direction of this station, in June of this year, the reception of grain trucks and covered wagons with grain cargo began.
