Half-kilometer railway bridge will be built across the Syrdarya

18-07-2025

As part of a large-scale project to build the Darbaza-Maktaaral railway line, preparatory work has begun on the construction of a bridge across the Syrdarya river. The length of the structure will be 500 meters. The construction site is currently being prepared and equipment is being mobilized.

Active work on the construction of a new 152 km long branch is underway on the section from the Erdaut station to the Syr Darya River floodplain. More than 6 million cubic meters of roadbed have already been poured, which is 50% of the total volume. In parallel, artificial structures are being installed: in total, 35 bridges are planned to be built and 135 pipes installed within the framework of the project. At the Arys station, 105 km of track and sleeper grid have been assembled and are ready for laying. More than 600 people and over 300 units of equipment are involved in the construction.

The project is being implemented on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is of strategic importance for the development of the country's transport and transit potential. The new railway line will significantly relieve the congested Saryagash-Tashkent section, as well as the Saryagash border station, which will create conditions for increasing export shipments to Central Asian countries.

In addition, the project will contribute to the socio-economic development of the Turkestan region. The new line will connect the remote Maktaaral and Zhetysay districts with the main railway network of Kazakhstan, eliminating the need to travel through the territory of Uzbekistan.

KTZ plans to complete the construction of the railway in 2026.
