Train drivers prevent collisions
24-02-2026
Over the past 24 hours, two collisions with vehicles at railroad crossings were avoided on the Taraz and Shymkent sections of the State Enterprise thanks to the vigilance of locomotive crews.
The first incident occurred at 6:26 AM on the Taraz-Shu section. At the Aksholak-Ushbulak crossing, the driver of an electric locomotive, traveling at 55 km/h, applied emergency braking to avoid hitting a Chevrolet Cobalt. Thanks to these prompt actions, the collision was averted, delaying the train by 22 minutes.
Despite properly functioning signaling and excellent visibility, the driver committed a dangerous violation. Information about the incident has been forwarded to the Taraz City Traffic Police.
The second incident was recorded at 3:35 PM on the Arys-Tulkibas section. On the Shymkent-Kyzylsay section, the driver of train #2230, traveling at 51 km/h, applied emergency braking after a car crossed into the tracks. A collision was avoided, but the driver fled the scene. The delay was 16 minutes.
An investigation is underway into both incidents. Railway officials once again urge drivers to strictly adhere to track crossing regulations, as violations can result in death.
