31-08-2026
The reconstruction of the railway station has been completed in Kostanay. The upgraded facility opened as part of the country’s national station modernization program, which is being implemented under the instruction of the Head of State.
The grand opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the Akimat of the Kostanay region, and JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy".
The Kostanay railway station was originally built in 1974.
Following the reconstruction, the station has become more spacious and convenient for passengers, maintaining its role as one of the key transport hubs in the region.
The project included a complete overhaul of the building's engineering systems, roof, and both interior and exterior spaces. The passenger platform was reconstructed, the adjacent territory was landscaped, and new furniture and equipment were installed. Special attention was paid to safety, with the establishment of additional evacuation routes and the installation of fire doors. During the reconstruction, the building's total area expanded from 7,412 to 8,483 square meters.
The station’s facade was updated using fiber cement panels and granite. For the interior finishes, durable and fire-resistant materials were applied, including granite and porcelain stoneware. Domestically produced Kazakhstani materials were used throughout the reconstruction process.
The Kostanay station serves an average of over 2,000 passengers daily. Eighteen passenger trains pass through the station, connecting Kostanay with Astana, Almaty, Shu, Karaganda, Tobol, Atyrau, Uralsk, Aktobe, Burabay, and Kokshetau.
The project was funded by JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" using its own resources, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport, JSC "Samruk-Kazyna", and the Akimat of the Kostanay region.
