The reconstruction of the railway station at Zhem station, originally built in 1905, has been completed in the Aktobe region. The works were carried out as part of the national railway station modernization program, implemented under the instruction of the Head of State.
During the reconstruction, the single-story station building was updated, and its total area expanded from 387.5 to 421.2 square meters. The project updated the facade, interior spaces, engineering systems, and infrastructure elements.
The facade was clad with modern fiber cement panels. Inside, finishing works were completed, suspended ceilings were installed, and flooring was updated. Porcelain stoneware, non-slip ceramic, and modular vinyl tiles were used during the reconstruction. The majority of the materials were produced in Kazakhstan.
The reconstruction made it possible to improve conditions for passengers and railway workers, increase the level of comfort and safety, and update the appearance of the historical building.
Today, the station handles an average daily passenger traffic of about 332 people. Twenty-four passenger trains pass through the station, connecting Zhem with Aktobe, Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Taraz, Shu, Turkistan, Shymkent, Kyzylorda, and Kazaly. Trains also head to Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The project was funded by JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" using its own resources, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport, JSC "Samruk-Kazyna", and the Akimat of the Aktobe region.
