Reconstruction of two railway stations completed in Turkistan region

The reconstruction of the Arys-2 and Timur railway stations has been completed in the Turkistan Region. During the modernization, both stations underwent roof installation, exterior and interior finishing, upgrades to water supply, sewage, heating, and power supply utility networks, as well as platform reconstruction and landscaping of the surrounding areas.

The reconstruction was conducted as part of the railway infrastructure modernization program in fulfillment of the Head of State's directive. The project received support from the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport, the Akimat of the Atyrau Region, and Samruk-Kazyna JSC. It was funded through the own resources of NC KTZ JSC.

 

The stations have been equipped with modern furniture and equipment, ramps for persons with reduced mobility, and new emergency exits in compliance with fire safety regulations. Modern, durable, Kazakh-produced materials were used during the finishing works.

The Arys-2 railway station, built in 2012, was reconstructed while preserving its existing building area of 610 square meters. The station is classified as Class III. Its average daily passenger traffic stands at 249 people. A total of 24 passenger trains run through the station daily, providing connections to Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Kokshetau, Burabay Resort, Kyzylorda, Atyrau, Petropavl, Mangistau, Aktobe, Uralsk, Shymkent, Turkistan, and Shu, as well as to Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

The Timur station, also built in 2012, was reconstructed with the erection of a new one-story building covering an area of 490.5 square meters. The station belongs to Type 2. Its average daily passenger traffic stands at 63 people. A total of 26 passenger trains pass through the station daily, providing connections to Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Semey, Petropavl, Kokshetau, Burabay Resort, Atyrau, Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Taraz, Shu, Shymkent, and Turkistan, as well as to Russia, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The upgrade of these stations is part of a large-scale modernization program covering 124 railway stations across the country.

The consistent renewal of the passenger infrastructure aims to improve transport service quality, boost regional development, and create comfortable conditions for residents and visitors of Kazakhstan.
