Reconstruction of Taraz railway station completed in Zhambyl region

24-10-2026

On October 24, 2026, the renovation of the 1986-built Taraz railway station was completed in the Zhambyl region. The project aligns with the country's railway station modernization program initiated by order of the Head of State.

The project aims to upgrade railway infrastructure, improve passenger service quality, and provide more comfortable conditions for travelers waiting for and departing on trains.

The reconstruction involved a comprehensive renovation of the two-story station building, expanding its total area to 3,035 square meters. The works covered the facade, roofing, interior spaces, engineering networks, platforms, and the surrounding territory.

The facade was finished with travertine, while the base was clad in Kazakhstani-produced granite tiles. New windows and aluminum stained-glass structures were installed utilizing a "warm" stick curtain wall system featuring domestically manufactured energy-saving insulated glass units.

Interior spaces were finished using modern non-combustible materials. Soundproof slatted ceilings and wear-resistant floor coverings were installed. These implemented solutions aim to increase passenger comfort, boost the building's energy efficiency, and enhance infrastructure operational reliability.

Taraz station is categorized as a first-class railway hub, handling an average daily passenger volume of approximately 2,444 people. The station serves 36 passenger trains, connecting Taraz with major cities and regions across Kazakhstan—including Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Semey, Pavlodar, Aktobe, Shymkent, Turkestan, Uralsk, Atyrau, Kostanay, Kokshetau, Kyzylorda, Petropavl, and Saryagash—as well as cities in the Russian Federation.

The reconstruction was financed through the internal funds of NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Samruk-Kazyna JSC, and the Akimat of the Zhambyl region.
