31-08-2026

The reconstruction of four railway stations—Turksib, Esil, Eltai, and Isatay—has been completed in the Zhambyl, Akmola, and Atyrau regions. The works were carried out as part of the national railway station modernization program, implemented under the instruction of the Head of State. The primary goal of the reconstruction is to make the stations more convenient, safe, and accessible for passengers.

The projects were funded by JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" using its own resources, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport, JSC "Samruk-Kazyna", and local executive bodies.

The Turksib station railway building in the Zhambyl region, originally constructed in 1927, has undergone a comprehensive reconstruction. Today, it is a modern two-story facility spanning 1,273.6 square meters. The project updated the interior spaces and engineering systems, reconstructed the passenger platform, and landscaped the surrounding area. Special attention was paid to safety and ensuring a comfortable experience for passengers.

The station handles an average daily passenger traffic of over 300 people. Thirty-eight passenger trains pass through the station, connecting Turksib with major cities in Kazakhstan, the Burabay resort, as well as with Russia and Kyrgyzstan. Two stations in the Akmola region at once—Esil and Eltai—have reopened after reconstruction.

The Esil station building was originally constructed in 1943. Following the reconstruction, its total area expanded from 406 to 485.4 square meters. The station serves an average daily passenger traffic of over 200 people, and 18 passenger trains pass through the station.

Eltai station, built in 1973, has also been completely renovated. Its total area expanded from 217.9 to 246.8 square meters. Ten passenger trains pass through the station, providing transport links to Pavlodar, Kokshetau, the Burabay resort, Petropavl, Kostanay, Astana, and Karaganda.

At both facilities, the roof, engineering networks, and interior spaces were updated, the passenger platforms were reconstructed, and the surrounding territories were landscaped. The facades were given a modern finish.

During the reconstruction, special attention was paid to safety and accessibility. Additional evacuation routes were established, fire doors were installed, and ramps were equipped for passengers with reduced mobility. Durable, fire-resistant, and easy-to-clean materials, primarily domestically produced in Kazakhstan, were used for the finishes.

In the Atyrau region, the Isatay station railway building, constructed in 1970, expanded its total area from 129.3 to 214.65 square meters following reconstruction. The project updated the roof, engineering systems, facade, and interior spaces, installed new furniture and equipment, and landscaped the surrounding area. Modern, domestically produced Kazakhstani materials were applied for the finishes.

Ten passenger trains pass through the station, connecting Isatay with Atyrau, as well as with routes heading to Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.

Following the reconstruction, the stations fully meet modern requirements for safety, accessibility, and service quality.
