The reconstruction of the Astana-1 railway station is in its final stages

24-09-2026

Following the reconstruction, the total area of the Astana-1 railway station will increase by 580 square meters, reaching a total of 8.4 thousand square meters. The renovated station is designed to comfortably accommodate the passenger traffic, which currently stands at approximately 10,000 people per day and 2.5 million passengers annually.

Roof installation, routing of internal utility lines, and construction of the trackside platform with a canopy have already been completed at the site. Finishing works, concourse construction, and landscaping of the surrounding area are currently underway.

New escalators, elevators, and platform lifts have already been installed at the station. Ramps, mother-and-child rooms, restrooms, and waiting areas are being equipped. A barrier-free environment is provided for passengers with limited mobility, including tactile navigation and information signs for the visually impaired.

The Astana-1 railway station was built in 1990. Since its construction, the facility has predominantly undergone only routine maintenance and minor repairs.

The reconstruction is being carried out as part of a modernization program for 124 railway stations across the country, initiated by order of the Head of State. Its primary goal is to create modern, safe, accessible, and comfortable conditions for passengers.

NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC is implementing the program using its own funds with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport, Samruk-Kazyna JSC, and akimats.
