Railway Workers and Department of Emergency Situations Extinguish Fire on Karaganda – Akadyr Section

On September 14, 2026, at 14:15, on the Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya – Akadyr section, the driver of a passing train detected a reed fire within the railway right-of-way. The source of the fire was located 6 meters from the railway tracks, with the total burning area reaching 0.7 hectares. The train driver promptly reported the information to the station duty officer at Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya.

A firefighting train from the Karaganda station was deployed to combat the blaze, alongside personnel and equipment from the Department of Emergency Situations (DES) of Karaganda city.

A total of 25 personnel and 5 units of specialized equipment participated in the firefighting operation. The total water consumption to eliminate the fire source amounted to 90 tons. Thanks to coordinated efforts, the fire was contained at 17:04 and completely extinguished at 19:58.

The incident did not affect railway operations. There were no casualties or injuries. No damage was caused to the infrastructure, tracks, signaling and interlocking devices, communications, or power supply systems. No train delays were recorded.

Firefighting trains of JSC "NC "KTZ" continue to remain on round-the-clock duty, ensuring prompt response and safety within the railway right-of-way.
