The railway transported the first million tons of grain of the season

In August, 1,157 thousand tons of grain were transported across the network of JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy", which is 35% higher than the figure for the same period last year. This amounts to more than 16.3 thousand wagons. The first million of the new season was achieved right at the start of the harvest campaign.

Export shipments reached 895 thousand tons, showing a 46% growth, while 262 thousand tons were delivered to the domestic market. Transport of milled products increased by 18%.

The main growth was driven by traditional Central Asian markets, with an increase of 45%. Shipments to China doubled, while deliveries to Afghanistan increased more than 3 times.

This year's harvesting began earlier than usual, shifting the peak of shipments to August. The network handled it without any restrictions. The company approached the season with an adequate fleet, with around 15.2 thousand grain carriers and 17.1 thousand covered wagons operating on the network. With a steady flow of applications from shippers and timely unloading, the new harvest will be transported using the existing fleet.

To coordinate the transport of the new harvest's grain, an operational headquarters is functioning with the participation of KTZ divisions and subsidiaries, wagon fleet operators, seaports, grain unions, and exporters. Similar headquarters are active in the freight transportation branches.

The peak of harvest transportation traditionally falls in September and October. KTZ ensures the priority movement of grain cargo in all directions and keeps the transportation of grain and milled products under constant control.
