Rail transportation between Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries is showing steady double-digit growth

10-04-2026

Since the beginning of the year, the volume of rail transport transportation between Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries has increased by 34% (up-to-date industry statistics).

This growth is driven by improved transportation efficiency, shorter delivery times, and the development of railway infrastructure.

Export shipments are showing significant growth, particularly in the agricultural sector. Grain exports reached 2,080,000 tons (+50% compared to the same period last year).

In the industrial sector, ferrous metal exports increased by 43% (to 442,000 tons), and petroleum product exports by 6% (212,000 tons).

The positive dynamics of transit traffic through the territory of Kazakhstan in the direction of Central Asian countries continues. Transit volumes of petroleum products increased by 28%, while ferrous metals increased by 42%. Food cargo shipments increased by 28%.

In the opposite direction, transit flows have also increased. Specifically, the volume of chemical products, including soda, doubled (to 36,000 tons), fruits and vegetables increased by 50% (28,000 tons), and non-ferrous ore increased by 10% (56,000 tons).

Among the countries in the region, transit volumes with Uzbekistan increased by 37%, with Turkmenistan by 31%, with Tajikistan by 16%, and with Kyrgyzstan by 13%.

Thus, Kazakhstan is consistently strengthening its position and contributing to the stability of trade and economic ties in the region.
