Rail freight transportation is showing steady growth

In the first quarter of 2026, 64.5 million tons of freight were transported across the network of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (an increase of 360,000 tons compared to the same period last year). Domestic shipments totaled 40.8 million tons, while exports totaled 23.7 million tons (an increase of 2.2%).

The transportation of socially important cargo remains under control: 27.4 million tons of coal were transported (an increase of 3%), of which 19.8 million tons were shipped domestically (an increase of 4%). Grain shipments increased by 15.4% to 4.1 million tons, while exports totaled 3.3 million tons (an increase of 17.5%). Export shipments of milled products increased by 6.2% to 570,000 tons.

Growth was also recorded in key categories: ferrous metals – +18% (1.3 million tons), iron and manganese ore – +14% (2.7 million tons), and fertilizers – +3% (1.2 million tons).
