Another journey of the "Keruen Express" tourist train is coming to an end. This trip marked the 18th tourist train organized as part of the development of railway tourism. Since the launch of the project, more than 2,300 passengers, including tourists from various countries, have used the tourist trains. During this time, the geography of rail travel has expanded significantly.

"Tourist trains operated on international routes connecting Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and China. The majority of the tourist trains were organized between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, visiting Almaty, Turkistan, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Tashkent. A separate direction was the Xi'an – Almaty route, focused, among other things, on developing inbound tourism from China," noted Anuar Akhmetzhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of Passenger Transportation JSC.

Also, within the framework of the project, the international tourist train "Jibek Joly" united three states at once — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Its route passed through Almaty, Turkistan, Samarkand, Bukhara, Dushanbe, and Tashkent.

Today, tourist trains are becoming a distinct travel format in Central Asia. Among their passengers are residents of Kazakhstan as well as foreign tourists interested in exploring the history, culture, national traditions, and sights of the region.

This format allows travelers to visit several cities and countries within a single trip. The rail journey is combined with excursion programs, visits to historical and cultural sites, and organized transfers, making the train itself a part of the tourist itinerary.

Passenger Transportation JSC, together with its partners, continues to work on developing railway tourism and expanding the geography of its routes. In October of this year, the organization of the next "Keruen Express" tourist train is planned, which will continue the series of international railway journeys.
