Over 2,000 drivers participated in KTZ’s "Safe Crossing" campaign across six regions of the country

As part of KTZ's "Safe Crossing" campaign, preventive raids were conducted across 23 railway sections and 20 stations in six regions of the country: Shymkent, Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Atyrau, Akmola, and Mangistau.

The campaign is being carried out as part of the implementation of the "Law and Order" concept. The raids involve railway workers, transport police officers, transport control inspection staff, prosecutors, and representatives of local executive bodies.

More than 2,000 drivers received briefings on the rules for safely crossing railway tracks.

Drivers are reminded that a train's braking distance can reach up to 1,000 meters, making it impossible to stop the train instantly. Driving onto a crossing during a restrictive signal or attempting to cross in front of an approaching train can lead to tragedy. Violating the rules for crossing railway tracks carries liability in accordance with Article 607 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the Shymkent region, preventive raids took place at the Badam – Igilik, Shornak – Turkestan, and Arys-2 – Kalash crossings, as well as at the Shagyr, Badam, Shoitobe, Sastobe, and Karakonyr stations.

In the Kyzylorda region, the campaign covered the Baigekum – Siding 20, Sekseul – Kurlyk, Besaryk – Sauran, and Sauran – Shornak crossings, along with the Kazaly and Aral stations. At the crossing near the Besaryk station, safety requirements were explained to 70 drivers. Residents of seven nearby villages, with a total population of about 10,000 people, use this crossing. The campaign then continued at the Shornak station, located on the border with the Turkestan region.

In the Aktobe region, preventive efforts took place at ten crossings and stations. At the crossing of the Kudyk – Zhem section on the Aktobe – Emba stretch, safety requirements were explained to 87 passenger car drivers and 45 truck drivers. This crossing is characterized by a high volume of heavy vehicle traffic. At the crossing of the Kandyragash – Shubarkuduk stretch, briefings were provided to 123 passenger car drivers and 45 truck drivers. This section sees 32 pairs of freight trains and eight pairs of passenger trains passing through daily.

In the Akmola region, the campaign was held at the Saumalkol, Taiynsha, Kurort-Borovoye, Makinka, Akkol, Shortandy, and Tonkeris stations. At the crossing near the Makinka station, rules for safe behavior were explained to 83 drivers. More than 40 pairs of freight and passenger trains pass through here daily, while the automobile traffic ranges from 1,700 to 3,500 vehicles per day. At the crossing of the Kurort-Borovoye – Zhamantuz stretch, 37 drivers were familiarized with the safe driving rules. At another crossing—on the Yanko – Saumalkol stretch—traffic regulations were explained to 130 drivers over the first seven months of this year.

In the Atyrau region, the campaign covered the stations and crossings of Mukur, Makat – Siding 402, Shokpartogai – Kulsary, Shokpartogai – Siding 469, Dossor, Maikomgen – Siding 467, Borankul – Siding 465, and Tumannoye – Siding 16. In the Mangistau region, preventive measures took place at the Mangistau, Shetpe, Mangistau-Tamak, and Uzen stations.

Railway workers urge drivers to slow down well in advance of a crossing, obey traffic lights and road signs, never drive around a closed gate, and not enter the tracks when a restrictive signal is active. It is also crucial to avoid using a phone while driving, refrain from overtaking in the crossing area, and not attempt to cross in front of an approaching train.

The "Safe Crossing" campaign will run until September 15. The preventive work aims to improve the traffic safety culture among road users and prevent accidents at railway crossings.
