24-04-2026
JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” together with a contractor completed the work eight months ahead of schedule.
A railway infrastructure modernization program is being implemented in the country. As part of this program, work has been completed on the Altynkol – Zhetygen section, which spans 293 km. Twelve passing points have been put into operation: five were built from scratch, and seven were fully reconstructed. New receiving-departure tracks equipped with a microprocessor-based centralization control system have been constructed.
The Altynkol – Zhetygen section is a crucial link in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Its modernization is being carried out as part of a long-term infrastructure renewal strategy and is aimed at increasing the speed and reliability of freight transportation, as well as developing the country’s transit potential. As a result, the section’s capacity has increased by 80%.
It should be noted that work on the Kyzylzhar – Sekseuil railway line, which spans 712 km, was also completed ahead of schedule earlier.
Currently, the modernization continues on the following sections in Kazakhstan: Aksu – Zhana-Semei, Mangystau – Beineu, Beineu – Shalkar, Kandyagash – Alimbet, and Nikeltau – Tobol. The total length of the sections under modernization is approximately 3,000 km, of which about 900 km have been renewed to date.
