KTZ presented TITR development prospects at the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum

26-09-2026

Yerlan Koishibayev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ), took part in the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum held in Baku. During a panel discussion dedicated to the development of regional connectivity and cooperation, he spoke about the role of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) in strengthening transport and logistics links between Central Asia, the Caucasus, and European markets.

It was noted that the TITR continues to demonstrate positive dynamics. Over the first 8 months of 2026, about 44,000 TEUs were transported along the route, which is 58% higher than the figure for the same period last year.

"Today, the TITR is not just a route, but an emerging multimodal transport system that combines the railway, port, and maritime infrastructure of several countries. The growth in transport volumes confirms the demand for the Middle Corridor and the need for further synchronous development of its key elements," Yerlan Koishibayev noted.

During the presentation, special attention was paid to the measures implemented by KTZ together with its partners to increase the efficiency of the TITR. These include the development of railway and terminal infrastructure, updating and increasing the rolling stock fleet, developing port capacities, and improving the efficiency of the maritime component of the route.

Particular attention was also given to improving the multimodal organization of transportation, including fixed tariffs, digitalization of processes, and the synchronous development of the route's components.

An important example is the creation of Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd. with the participation of railway companies from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and China. This has enabled the formation of a unified operational approach, including a coordinated schedule and single accountability to the customer.

During the forum, an exchange of views also took place with representatives of international business and the financial community on developing transport connectivity and increasing the efficiency of transit routes.

KTZ's participation in the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum made it possible to present the current results of the TITR's development and outline the main directions for further improvement of the route.

KTZ continues to cooperate with international and regional partners in order to increase the efficiency of the TITR and develop transit transportation.
