KTZ locomotive sector is ready for winter operations

06-11-2026

KTZ - Freight Transportation LLP has completed comprehensive preparations of its locomotive sector for the winter period. All 15 measures of the approved plan have been fully implemented.

Autumn commission inspections were carried out across all branches of the Partnership. Special attention was paid to train traffic safety, the technical condition of locomotives, the readiness of production facilities, compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, and providing workers with winter clothing.

A key focus was transitioning the locomotive fleet to winter operation mode. Locomotives were prepared within the set deadlines. Vibropantographs for combating contact wire icing were checked, as well as locomotives designated to operate with snow-clearing equipment.

The readiness of the production infrastructure has been secured. Heating boilers, buildings, and structures were prepared for the heating season, routine repairs of facilities were completed, and sand-drying equipment was serviced.

To ensure uninterrupted operations, necessary stocks of coal, diesel fuel, and other energy resources have been formed.

Special attention was given to personnel training. Employees who will be working in winter conditions for the first time have undergone training and have been assigned experienced mentors. Technical sessions with locomotive crews were held across all operational locomotive depots, covering topics such as the operation of automatic braking equipment in winter.

Workers have been fully provided with winter uniforms and footwear.

The measures taken are aimed at ensuring train traffic safety and the uninterrupted operation of the locomotive sector during the winter season.
