KTZ locomotive fleet replenished with 159 new locomotives

Since the beginning of 2026, the KTZ locomotive fleet has been replenished with 159 modern locomotives manufactured by Alstom and CRRC. In August, 13 locomotives arrived: 3 electric locomotives, 9 shunting locomotives, and 1 mainline diesel locomotive.

Out of the total number, 22 electric locomotives were delivered to the Astana and Kurort-Borovoye depots. Eighty mainline diesel locomotives were distributed among the Kandyagash, Zhem, Mangystau, Atyrau, Makat, Karaganda, and Aktogay depots. Another 57 shunting diesel locomotives were sent to the Ekibastuz, Pavlodar, Balkhash, Karaganda, Zhana-Karaganda, and Astana depots.

The renewal of the traction fleet increases the reliability and efficiency of train and shunting operations, strengthens the technical equipment of locomotive depots, and improves the working conditions of locomotive crews.
