KTZ: Kazakh lentils shipped to India
23-09-2026
"KTZ Express" JSC, a subsidiary of "NC "KTZ" JSC, organized the transportation of Kazakh lentils from the Akmola region to India via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
The shipment was arranged amid growing production and export potential of domestic products. Kazakhstan ranks 6th in the world in lentil exports. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the harvest of grain legumes in the country reached a record one million tons in 2025, showing a 56% increase compared to the previous year.
The Akmola region is one of the key areas where lentil production and processing are actively developing. The growth in production volumes contributes to expanding the geographical scope of Kazakh product supplies. One of the most promising destinations is the Indian market, where a batch of lentils was dispatched from the Akkol station to the Port of Mundra via a multimodal route.
In the first stage, the cargo traveled by rail from Akkol to the Port of Aktau. Next, the containers were shipped across the Caspian Sea to the Port of Alyat (Azerbaijan). From Azerbaijan, the cargo continued by rail to the Georgian port of Poti (Georgia), from where it was sent by sea to Mundra (India).
Organizing the delivery of Kazakh lentils along this route broadens the opportunities for domestic producers to access South Asian markets and supports the development of new export directions.
