KTZ improves production training system
13-10-2026
KTZ is updating its production training system, emphasizing practical skills, the analysis of real-world operational situations, and safety enhancement. The work is being carried out by the KTZ branch "Center for Assessment and Development of Railway Transport Personnel" in cooperation with regional training centers in Karaganda, Pavlodar, Aktobe, and Taraz.
Training programs now incorporate operational case studies, practical assignments, and error analysis. This helps employees learn to identify risks, make informed decisions, and apply their acquired knowledge directly in the workplace.
"We strive to make training as close as possible to real production tasks. Reviewing practical situations allows workers to hone their decision-making skills and prevent mistakes," notes Irina Kapanova, Deputy Director of the branch.
To assess teaching quality, a new KPI called the "Andragogical Approach Application Index" has been introduced. It evaluates how effectively production training instructors link theory with practice, engage trainees in discussions, develop independence in problem-solving, and facilitate the exchange of professional experience.
A unified methodological database featuring educational materials and operational case studies is also being formed. To improve teaching quality, peer observations of classes and the exchange of best practices between instructors have been organized.
Another focus area is the digitalization of training. An in-house electronic system is currently under development, which will combine educational materials, online learning, testing, proctoring, and results analytics. It will expand training access for employees at remote stations and line divisions.
Training effectiveness is evaluated not only by test results but also by how employees apply their knowledge in practice. To achieve this, feedback from their immediate supervisors is analyzed.
Improving the training system is aimed at increasing the professional readiness of employees, preventing operational errors, and ensuring the safety of railway transport.
