KTZ has transported over 19.5 million tons of coal ahead of the new heating season

From May to August 2026, KTZ transported 19.5 million tons of coal, including 18.3 million tons dedicated to thermal power plants and 1.2 million tons for the population. These volumes align with the levels recorded during the same period last season.

Transportation is fully supported by rolling stock. JSC "Kaztemirtrans" operates 29,000 gondola cars, with 18,500 deployed monthly for coal transport. During peak periods, up to 3,000 additional gondola cars can be brought in. There is no shortage of rolling stock.

The infrastructure is also prepared for an increase in transport volumes. In 2026, track repairs are being carried out on 1,577 km of lines, including 573 km of major overhauls.

To boost capacity on coal routes, ongoing modernization projects are being finalized this year on the Aksu-1 - Degelen, Kyzylzhar - Zhezkazgan, and Tobol - Kandyagash sections, alongside the extension of receiving and departure tracks on the Moiynty – Zharyk section.

Additionally, the modernization of the hump yard at the Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya station is underway, aimed at increasing the station's processing capacity.

The heaviest load will fall between September and November, requiring around 3 million tons of coal, or 45% of the population's annual demand. The peak volume in October will reach 1.1 million tons—approximately 520 cars per day, which doubles the current loading rate.

KTZ urges local administrations (akimats) and regional operators to maximize coal distribution before the peak period begins. For its part, the Company confirms its readiness to fully ensure the timely transportation of all requested volumes.
