KTZ train drivers have prevented 20 accidents at railroad crossings since the beginning of the year

25-05-2026

Since the beginning of this year, KTZ drivers have prevented 20 potential accidents at railroad crossings. The high level of vigilance, professionalism, and prompt action of locomotive crews enable them to prevent collisions in a timely manner and ensure the safety of trains and vehicles.

For example, on May 1 at 8:18 AM on the Moiynty-Shyganak section, the driver of a freight train traveling at 54 km/h applied emergency braking, preventing a collision with a Khova truck. The crossing signaling system was functioning properly. The train was delayed for 16 minutes. This information was forwarded to the Shu station police department.

On April 21 at 12:35 PM on the Shu-Taraz section, the driver of a freight train applied emergency braking in a timely manner and prevented a collision with a Jeep that had crossed the railroad crossing in front of an oncoming train. The train was delayed for 10 minutes. The incident report was submitted to the Turksib station emergency response team.

On April 25 at 8:05 AM on the Moiynty-Shyganak section, the driver of a passenger train prevented a collision with a Chevrolet Cobalt that had violated railroad crossing rules. The train was delayed for 4 minutes. The incident report was submitted to the Shu station emergency response team.

On May 13, two similar incidents were recorded on the Taraz-Shu and Zhanaesil-Kokshetau sections, in which drivers applied emergency braking at speeds of 65-70 km/h, preventing collisions with cars that fled the scene. The information was forwarded to the local police departments. In all cases, the crossing signaling systems were functioning properly, and visibility remained satisfactory.

On May 19, on the Zhanaesil-Kokshetau section, at the Yanko-Saumalkol crossing, emergency braking was applied at a speed of 70 km/h due to a Kamaz truck that had entered the crossing and stopped due to a breakdown at an unguarded, controlled crossing.

The primary cause of all recorded incidents is gross violation of traffic regulations by vehicle drivers.

On May 21, on the Zhanaesil-Presnogorkovskaya section, between Baumanskaya and Presnogorkovskaya, the driver of a freight train at a speed of 38 km/h applied emergency braking and prevented an accident at an unguarded, controlled railroad crossing. The cause of the accident was a serious violation of traffic regulations by the driver of a truck, who entered the crossing immediately in front of an approaching train.

Thanks to the prompt actions of the locomotive crew, a collision was avoided. The train was delayed by 12 minutes. The crossing signaling system was functioning normally. Information about the incident was forwarded to the Kostanay Station Department of Internal Affairs.

Last year, train drivers prevented 62 accidents at crossings.

KTZ reminds drivers of the need to strictly adhere to the rules for crossing railway crossings. The railway is a high-risk area, where attentiveness and discipline directly impact safety and life.
