06-10-2026

In September 2026, the locomotive fleet of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) was expanded with 18 new locomotives. The Astana depot received 3 electric locomotives of the KZ8A series and 5 shunting locomotives manufactured by CRRC. Six mainline diesel locomotives, assembled at the domestic enterprise "Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty" (LKZ), were deployed to the Esil depot. The Kurort-Borovoye depot received 3 CRRC shunting locomotives, and another 1 CRRC shunting locomotive was delivered to the Karaganda depot.

The delivery of modern traction equipment significantly increases the reliability of the locomotive fleet, guarantees the sustainability of the transportation process, and substantially improves the working conditions for locomotive crews.

Since the beginning of the year, KTZ has received a total of 187 locomotives from manufacturers Wabtec, CRRC, and Alstom.
