KTZ Continues Implementation of Large-Scale Railway Station Renovation Program

18-09-2026

A program to modernize and reconstruct the country's railway stations is being implemented in Kazakhstan following a directive from the Head of State.

The program covers both major cities and small communities. Railway stations have been renovated in the Akmola and Karaganda regions. Upgrades were also carried out in the Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Atyrau, Kostanay, East Kazakhstan, Turkistan, West Kazakhstan, Almaty, Pavlodar, Jambyl, North Kazakhstan, and Mangystau regions, as well as in the Abai, Jetisu, and Ulytau regions.

The project involves upgrading station buildings and utility infrastructure, reconstructing platforms, landscaping surrounding areas, and creating more comfortable conditions for passengers and employees.

At certain locations, old structures were completely demolished to build new ones. At other stations, floor space was expanded alongside comprehensive reconstruction. The roofs, engineering networks, and interior and exterior spaces were upgraded, and new furniture and equipment were installed.

Special emphasis has been placed on safety and accessibility. Additional evacuation routes have been organized, fire doors installed, and ramps equipped for passengers with limited mobility. The necessary facilities have been created for parents with children and people with disabilities.

The finishing work utilizes durable, wear-resistant, and fire-safe materials, predominantly manufactured in Kazakhstan. Following the reconstruction, the stations meet modern safety and accessibility standards while improving the overall quality of passenger service.

The projects are financed through the internal funds of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, with support from the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport, JSC Samruk-Kazyna, and local executive bodies.
