During a working visit to Moscow, Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, held a bilateral meeting with Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of JSC Russian Railways. The parties reviewed the results of 2025 and agreed on a joint action plan for 2026.
By the end of 2025, the volume of transportation between Kazakhstan and Russia increased by 3.5%, reaching 92.1 million tons (+3.1 million tons compared to 2024), exports: 52.9 million tons (+4.3%), and transit: 25.6 million tons (+8.8%).
The transportation of Kazakh grain through Russia tripled, reaching 2.2 million tons. Meanwhile, transshipment through Russian ports increased by 34% (to 526,400 tons). Coal shipments from Kazakhstan through Russian ports also showed growth (+38%), reaching 11.7 million tons.
Given that potential shipment volumes could exceed the design capacity of interstate connection points (ICP) in 2026, the parties emphasized the importance of the synchronized development of railway infrastructure, coordinated work between state regulatory bodies at ICP, and adherence to agreements on the number of train exchanges and the technological development of connection stations.
The development of the eastern branch of the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC) was discussed. By the end of 2025, container shipments along the corridor had increased by 1.5 times.
The company heads noted the success of the digital transformation of logistics, in particular the transition to the use of electronic consignment notes in international traffic.
