08-09-2026

A delegation from JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ), led by Erlan Koishibayev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, made a working visit to Batumi (Georgia). As part of the tasks of JSC "Samruk-Kazyna" to develop transport and logistics infrastructure, the delegation held a series of meetings with key partners from Georgia and discussed projects related to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

During a meeting with Tamar Ioseliani, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and David Javakhadze, Director of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port Development Agency, the parties discussed issues of strategic cooperation in detail. The dialogue focused on current areas of collaboration, the joint development of terminal capacities, as well as key projects, including the launch of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port.

A meeting was also held with the management of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), where issues of joint infrastructure development of the Batumi International Container Terminal were discussed. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Manila (Philippines), ICTSI is a major international operator that manages 33 common-user container terminals in 19 countries across Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and the Middle East. The company serves the global shipping industry, including managing the Batumi International Container Terminal (BICT) under a concession agreement.

Special attention was paid to increasing the volume of transit cargo passing through joint logistics routes. It was noted that KTZ consistently continues to build a terminal framework along the entire route. This infrastructure chain covers the path from China and the territory of Kazakhstan through the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea and further into Europe, significantly increasing the transit potential and logistics connectivity of the regions.

Furthermore, during negotiations with Lasha Abashidze, CEO of JSC "Georgian Railway", the growing volumes of transportation along the TITR were highlighted. The parties reviewed joint work within the Trans-Caspian route, paying special attention to practical steps aimed at eliminating bottlenecks and optimizing logistics for the uninterrupted passage of container flows.

Following the meetings, the parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen bilateral cooperation aimed at attracting additional cargo flows and developing transport corridors between Kazakhstan and Georgia.
