21-04-2026
As part of the anniversary event of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD), a working meeting was held at the KTZ building between the company's Chairman of the Management Board, Talgat Aldybergenov, and the Chairman of the Management Board of Polish State Railways (PKP S.A.), Alan Beroud, who also leads the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER).
For reference:
CER (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies) is an association of Europe's leading railway and infrastructure companies, shaping the industry agenda for the transport sector, including the development of international freight. Founded in Brussels in 1988, the Community brings together around 70 railway enterprises.
The parties discussed further bilateral cooperation in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
Furthermore, the parties considered a wide range of issues aimed at developing strategic cooperation between the railways of Kazakhstan and Poland. Key attention was paid to cooperation in the field of freight transportation between KTZ and the carrier companies of Polish State Railways, as well as to the exchange of experience in implementing modern energy solutions, including decarbonization and environmentally friendly technologies.
Partnership between the two countries' railways in 2026 demonstrates growth dynamics. Based on the results of the first quarter, the total volume of rail freight between the countries increased by 1.5 times, reaching 752 thousand tons.
Positive dynamics are also observed in the structure of Kazakh exports: coal supplies to Poland increased 6-fold, chemical product exports rose 2.8-fold, and grain shipments showed multiple-fold growth, reflecting high demand in European markets.
At the same time, Kazakhstan's role as a key transit hub is strengthening: container traffic on the China–Poland route in the first three months of 2026 increased by 44%, reaching 75.4 thousand TEUs.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further develop cooperation within the framework of the TITR.
