JSC Passenger Transportation is implementing digital solutions in collaboration with students from Astana IT University
16-02-2026
The national carrier continues to implement digital solutions in passenger rail transportation business processes, where students are demonstrating their solutions for the industry. This initiative is being implemented as part of the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.
JSC Passenger Transportation has signed a memorandum of understanding on dual education with Astana IT University. This collaboration involves integrating academic training with work on existing business processes. Of 135 applicants, 14 students from the university were selected for the project. The students were divided into four teams and worked for two months to solve specific business problems for the company.
1. Automation of Management Reporting
One team developed a service for generating weekly operational reports with visualization on dashboards.
The system allows you to combine disparate Excel spreadsheets, automatically calculate key performance indicators, and generate analytical reports for presentation materials.
This project will reduce the volume of manual data processing, reduce the likelihood of errors, and speed up management decision-making.
2. Intelligent Chatbot for Passengers
The second project is a chatbot for passengers with the ability to process complaints, thanks, messages, and lost item reports.
The service uses artificial intelligence to automatically communicate with passengers and simultaneously generates analytics on their requests. This allows for systematization of feedback, prompt response to signals, and improved customer service.
3. Detection of Anomalous Activity in Ticket Sales
The third team developed a system for analyzing train ticket sales aimed at identifying suspicious and atypical transactions.
The solution enables the timely detection of scalpers, mass or anomalous purchases, and other fraudulent activities. If risks are detected, the system generates alerts to verify and temporarily block accounts in accordance with the company's internal regulations.
4. Digital Accounting of Baggage and Cargo
The fourth area is the creation of a system for digitally processing and tracking the transportation of baggage and cargo.
The platform supports both station operator-based and self-service scenarios via a WMS (Warehouse Management System). The solution ensures a unified shipment lifecycle, operational transparency, and the minimization of human error.
As part of the project, students develop real functional modules and internal tools under the guidance of company specialists. This format allows them to simultaneously solve practical business problems and build a talent pool for the industry.
Passenger Transportation JSC plans to gradually implement the developed solutions into operational activities following internal approvals and information security approval.
