How is sanitary safety ensured on trains operated by JSC Passenger Transportation

14-07-2026

Periodically, passenger posts regarding the detection of insects on trains appear on social media. It should be noted that such complaints may concern not only the trains of the National Carrier but also private carriers, of which there are 13 in Kazakhstan.

In the event that insects are detected on trains operated by JSC 'Passenger Transportation', the responsible services immediately take the necessary measures. In accordance with the requirements of the Sanitary Rules approved by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, each passenger car undergoes mandatory disinfection treatment prior to departure.

In addition, to ensure sanitary safety on trains, three main types of sanitary treatment are regularly performed:

  • Disinfection — carried out prior to each departure to eliminate pathogens of infectious diseases and prevent the spread of pathogenic microorganisms.

  • Disinsection (Pest control) — a professional treatment aimed at exterminating insects, including ticks, fleas, lice, mosquitoes, flies, midges, biting midges, ants, cockroaches, and bedbugs. It is performed at least once a month, as well as on epidemiological grounds.

  • Deratization (Rodent control) — a set of measures designed to exterminate and prevent the spread of rodents. It is performed at least once a month, as well as on epidemiological grounds.

Following each treatment, the cars undergo a mandatory inspection. If insects are detected, a repeat treatment is carried out, and, if necessary, the car's downtime is extended until the issue is completely resolved. It should be noted that the branches of JSC 'Passenger Transportation' conclude agreements for sanitary treatment with specialized organizations holding the appropriate licenses to perform this type of activity.

Regarding the quality of service and the sanitary condition on the trains of the National Carrier, passengers may contact the WhatsApp number +7 776 714 5686 or use the QR codes posted inside the cars. After scanning the QR code, the passenger will be redirected to a WhatsApp chat to communicate with an operator.
