On high alert for floods

To ensure the safety of train traffic and the preservation of railway infrastructure, a series of measures are being taken to prepare the track and artificial structures for ice drift and floodwaters. As part of this preparation, 45 anti-washout trains are being formed; 18 have been formed to date.

Cleaning work is also underway:

3,558 bridges
6,345 culverts
2,022 km of ditches
550.1 km of interfluves

Progress of work by region:

Cleaning work in the southern region is 100% complete.

In the western region, the following have been cleared:

83.2% of bridges
61.8% of pipes
52.1% of ditches
74.8% of interceptor ditches

In the eastern region, the following have been cleared:

37.1% of bridges
27.4% of pipes
9.7% of ditches
15.3% of interceptor ditches

In the northern region, the following have been cleared:

5.5% of bridges
24.9% of pipes
2.4% of ditches
8.8% of interceptor ditches

Over 1,000 track section and construction and maintenance personnel are involved in the work.

Drilling and blasting operations were carried out on sections of the Kumistau track section to control snow avalanches. 700 kg of explosives were used, and 2,610 m³ of snow was released.

All work will be completed within the specified timeframe.
