Growth Vector: Khorgos Gateway Transit Potential Increased in 2025
06-02-2026
Over 372,000 TEUs were handled at the Khorgos Gateway Dry Port in the special economic zone in 2025, a 2% increase compared to 2024.
The port has become an important transshipment hub for cross-border freight transport between China and Europe/Central Asia.
In 2025, 10 new broad-gauge railway lines were built at the dry port, along with intelligent infrastructure upgrades to ensure rapid container handling. This reduced container handling time from five hours to one hour.
The dry port is the second joint Chinese-Kazakh logistics project, following the logistics base in Lianyungang. The project includes facilities such as a China-Kazakhstan railway transshipment station, a wheat transshipment station, and a container yard.
Thanks to the Dry Port's advantages as a logistics hub within Kazakhstan's special economic zone, enterprises from various industries have joined it, facilitating the development of manufacturing and logistics.
