08-01-2026

By the end of 2025, grain transportation volumes on the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy network exceeded 14.3 million tons, 31% more than the same period in 2024. Eleven million tons of grain were exported, 33% more than last year. Such figures were recorded for the first time in 10 years.

Domestic transportation increased by 26%, exceeding 3.3 million tons. Transportation to Central Asian countries also increased by 30%, reaching 6.3 million tons, including:

  • to Kyrgyzstan – a doubling;
  • to Tajikistan – a 12% increase, reaching 1.4 million tons;
  • to Uzbekistan – a 32% increase, reaching 4.5 million tons. Grain shipments to Azerbaijan tripled, shipments to Iran increased by 69%, and shipments to Afghanistan by 63%. Shipments to the Baltic countries increased sixfold, exceeding 800,000 tons. Shipments to Black Sea and Baltic ports increased by 49% and 67%, respectively.

For the 2025–2026 marketing year (September to December 2025), grain shipments reached 6 million tons (+19%), including exports of 4.7 million tons (+18%). Shipments to Central Asian countries increased by 27% to 2.8 million tons, to Afghanistan by 71%, to the Baltic countries by 2 times, to Black Sea ports by 47%, and to Baltic ports by 6 times. Grain shipments to Uzbekistan increased by 41%, exceeding 2 million tons.

In December 2025, grain shipments by rail totaled 1.6 million tonnes, 14% higher than in December 2024 and a record monthly figure. Exports increased by 16% to 1.3 million tonnes, while domestic shipments exceeded 300,000 tonnes, 10% higher than last year.

Towards the People's Republic of China, grain exports increased by 30%, or 1 million tonnes, to exceed 4.2 million tonnes. Raw grain shipments totaled 0.8 million tonnes, driven by a shift toward higher-value-added freight.
A structural shift in favor of containerized feed shipments has been noted: their volume increased 3.5-fold, from 0.7 million tonnes to 3.1 million tonnes.

Despite the restrictive measures taken, stable grain shipments have been ensured through corrective actions. The company continues to strictly monitor shipments through the operational collaboration of JSC NC KTZ, relevant ministries, local executive bodies, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, and shippers at the Grain Headquarters. The company's rail infrastructure and rolling stock fully support the needs of elevators and access roads for the shipment of the new harvest.
