Future drivers shown the railway through a train driver's eyes at Arys station

A preventive campaign involving driving school students was held at the Arys station. The event was organized as part of KTZ's "Safe Crossing" campaign and the "Law and Order" concept.

Future drivers visited a locomotive cab and saw a railway crossing through the eyes of a train driver. Instructors from the Arys locomotive depot told the students about the train's mass and speed, braking distance, and the specifics of operating a train.

The main goal of the meeting was to demonstrate why it is impossible to take risks at a crossing and expect that the driver will have time to stop the train in front of a car. Even during emergency braking, a multi-ton train cannot stop as quickly as a passenger car.

"Behind the wheel of a car, a driver sees the train from the outside. We suggest looking at the situation through the eyes of a train driver. At a crossing, the train has priority, and its stopping distance can be hundreds of meters. Therefore, the only safe decision is not to drive onto a crossing when the signal is red and to always make sure there is no approaching train," emphasized Depot Driver-Instructor Sabit Akhmetov.

The campaign became part of preventive work with future drivers. Such meetings take place at railway facilities and help shape the responsible behavior of motorists even before they obtain their driver's licenses.

"Safety at railway crossings depends on every traffic participant. A single mistake by a driver can lead to severe consequences not only for themselves but also for train passengers and the locomotive crew," noted train driver-Instructor Sabit Akhmetov.
