Prohibited items on trains: what passengers need to know
24-07-2026
JSC "Passenger Transportation" reminds passengers of the list of items prohibited for carriage on rail transport. In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, attempting to transport dangerous or prohibited items entails criminal liability.
What is prohibited to bring on a train?
Before boarding the train, passengers undergo mandatory security screening at stations. To ensure safety, major railway stations are equipped with X-ray baggage scanners, stationary and handheld metal detectors, as well as portable detectors. CCTV, security, and panic alarm systems are operational, with police and security personnel on duty 24/7.
To improve passenger transport safety, JSC "Passenger Transportation" is gradually implementing a video surveillance system on trains. Currently, 1,100 passenger cars out of the total fleet are equipped with CCTV. This includes 550 Talgo train cars and 550 standard passenger cars. The video footage is transmitted to the Situational Center, where specialists perform live monitoring, analyze emergencies, and take response measures if necessary.
The company urges passengers to comply with the established rules and treat security measures with understanding, as they are aimed at ensuring comfortable and safe travel.
