Almaty-1 Railway Station is Being Prepared for Opening

06-10-2026

Renovation work on the Almaty-1 railway station building and its adjacent territory is nearing completion. The station space is being transformed to meet the needs of passengers, with expanded waiting zones and the creation of safe and convenient conditions for their stay.

The area of the renovated building exceeds 17,000 square meters. Inside, the organization of passenger areas has been redesigned, the waiting room has been expanded, and new escalators, elevators, and information boards have already been installed. Modern engineering equipment is currently being set up in the building.

Special attention is being paid to the accessibility of the facility for passengers with limited mobility and the comfort of passengers with children. Commercial premises will be located in the pedestrian underpass in the lower part of the building.

Modular guest rooms will be provided for passengers, and a railway museum will also open.

The territory in front of the station will change as well. Instead of a parking zone, a landscaped alley with trees and flowerbeds is being created. Benches, recreation areas, and an information board will appear here. The area will become an extension of the station's passenger space and a more comfortable urban zone.

The concourse is being updated: its structure has been reinforced, and glass elements are being used. Modern materials are applied throughout the building, the roof and facade have been renovated, and interior finishing works are currently underway.

Work at the site is being carried out around the clock. The day shift involves 407 people, while the night shift includes 68 workers. Specialized equipment is operating at the facility.
