A train driver prevented an accident at the Shortandy station level

On December 6, at 6:02 PM, at the Shortandy station in Akmola Oblast, the driver of a freight train traveling at 55 km/h applied emergency braking at a guarded and controlled level crossing due to a vehicle suddenly driving through a red light and a lowered barrier.

Thanks to the prompt actions of the locomotive crew, an accident was prevented. The driver fled the scene. The train departed the station with a 10-minute delay.

The automatic crossing signaling system is functioning normally, and the crossing lighting is in good condition. This information has been forwarded to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
