Record volume of train transfers to China via Altynkol IJP

On March 3, 2025, a historical record was set for the delivery of trains through the Altynkol - Khorgos border crossing. This result was achieved thanks to agreements between the heads of the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and China.

Previously, no more than 8 trains were exchanged per day. This agreement will meet the needs of Kazakhstani enterprises for export, including grain cargo (compound feed, flour, milled products), ore cargo, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

From July 1, 2025, it is planned to increase the exchange of trains at the Dostyk - Alashankou border crossing from 14 to 28 trains per day.

In the first two months of 2025, the volume of train deliveries to China increased by 18% and amounted to 3.4 million tons, including:

- via Dostyk – Alashankou – by 10%, to 2.2 million tons;
- via Altynkol – Khorgos – by 37%, to 1.2 million tons.
