Record grain transportation by rail in in the 1st quarter

The KTZ network achieved a record volume of grain transportation in the first quarter over the past five years. In January-March of this year, 3.6 million tons of grain were transported by rail, which is 49% more than in the same period last year. 2.8 million tons were exported, an increase of 52%. 788 thousand tons of grain were transported within the republic, which is 38% more than last year.
Over three months, grain transportation to Iran increased 11 times, to the Baltic countries - five times.
In the direction of China, there is a steady growth in the volume of processed grain products with high added value, in particular compound feed. Their volume over three months exceeded 500 thousand tons, an increase of 5.5 times compared to last year. The volume of grain loaded in March via the KTZ network also set a new record for the past five years and amounted to 1.2 million tons, which is 63% more than in the same period last year. Domestic grain transportation increased by 43% and reached 290 thousand tons, and export deliveries grew by 70%, amounting to 914 thousand tons.
In March, there was an increase in exports in all key directions. 463 thousand tons of grain were sent to the countries of Central Asia, which is 48% more than last year.
Grain transportation to Uzbekistan increased by 28%, to Tajikistan - by 80%, to Turkmenistan - by 18%, to Kyrgyzstan - six times. Deliveries to Afghanistan increased by 23%. Through the ports of Aktau and Kuryk in the direction of Iran, transportation increased by 18 times, through the Black Sea ports - by 35%, through the Baltic ports - by 26%, to the Baltic countries - by 10 times.
KTZ continues to provide reliable logistics and effective interaction with grain market participants. The transport infrastructure, as well as the wagon and locomotive fleet, are fully prepared to fulfill the declared transportation volumes.
