Railway repairs are underway in Kazakhstan

Annual seasonal track repairs are underway on the KTZ network. In 2025, 1,480 km of the main line will be repaired. Almost the same large amount of work was carried out last year - 1,430 km.

A large-scale track repair campaign began in March and covers all regions of the country.

To date, about 400 km have been updated with various types of repairs. More than 100 km in the south and west of the country have been overhauled. Work continues on the Lepsy-Zhaskazak (Almaty branch of the main network), Burubaytal-Karasai (Zhambyl branch), Aiteke bi-Uytas (Aktobe branch), Rzd.265-Rzd.279 (Atyrau branch), Rzd.7-Sai-Utes (Mangistau branch) sections.
 

According to schedule, major repairs of the railway main line in the northern and eastern regions of the country have begun. Work is underway on the Kunshash-Karagalinskaya (Kostanay branch), Bel-Agach-Dyusaken (Semey branch), Erkenshilik-Edyge-Ereymentau (Pavlodar branch) sections.

In total, this year more than 512 km of railway in 10 branches of the KTZ main network will be overhauled with a complete replacement of the rail and sleeper grid:

- Akmola - 63.1 km;
- Kostanay - 67.3 km;
- Pavlodar - 58.4 km;
- Semey - 38.6 km;
- Almaty - 29.8 km;
- Zhambyl - 52.1 km;
- Kyzylorda - 48.7 km;
- Aktobe - 72.6 km;
- Atyrau - 66.7 km;
- Mangistau - 15.7 km.
 

In addition, railway workers are carrying out other types of work to improve the track. This year, they will completely change the track gauge on 122 km, and replace the sleepers on 100 km. Track machine complexes will clean contaminated ballast on 435 km.

To ensure traffic safety during the period of planned modernization and current maintenance of the infrastructure, temporary restrictions on train speed are introduced on sections. Annual track repairs are necessary to ensure the reliability of the transportation process in the autumn-winter period.
